It's been a rough couple of weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles as they've dropped four of their last five games. To make things worse Jordan Davis has struggled immensely this season, and Brian Baldinger made note of that.

"It is clear that [he] is out of shape. I gotta believe they fine him every week. He’s overweight, and it shows," Baldinger said Tuesday on the PHLY Eagles podcast. "He’s not pursuing the ball, he’s nothing in the pass rush."

Of course, as with seemingly everyone else in the NFL media, Baldinger has gone way too far in exaggerating just how dire things are in Philly.

The former Cowboy even made a wild claim that Davis shouldn't dress. "I’m not sure why he keeps dressing. When plays are going on, he’s basically walking on the field.”

The Georgia product hasn't played well for the Eagles this campaign, logging just 42 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss. Davis was brought in to eventually replace defensive tackle Fletcher Cox but that is not the case. The 33-year-old is outplaying Davis, notching 33 total stops, five sacks, and three tackles for loss in 2023.

The 23-year-old is listed at 336 pounds and was drafted to be a run-stopping force in the middle with upside as a pass-rusher. That hasn't been the case thus far and it's showing on the field. Across two seasons, Davis recorded just 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss.

The Eagles used the 13th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to select Davis. They will need much more from him with the playoffs right around the corner. Every game from now on will be won in the trenches and the Eagles need Davis to step it up.

Philly ranks No. 3 in the odds to win the NFC Championship now, getting long-shot +550 odds which puts them significantly behind the Dallas Cowboys (+380) and the odds-on favorite San Francisco 49ers (-120).
