The opening odds for the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 2 matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons clearly favor Nick Sirianni's team in its home opener.

The Philadelphia Eagles have landed back in the United States as a 1-0 team after taking down the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. Now with the benefit of extra rest following a Friday kickoff, Nick Sirianni's squad now turns it attention to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

Atlanta's season opener was a disaster, and with the Eagles playing at home for the first time in 2024, oddsmakers are high on a 2-0 start for Philly.

FanDuel Sportsbook has listed the Eagles as 5.5-point favorites (-115 to cover) in the opening odds for this showdown, which happens to be on Monday Night Football in Week 2. Meanwhile, the Falcons are -105 to cover as 5.5-point underdogs, and only +220 on the moneyline (compared to -270 for Philadelphia).

Honestly, despite this being a touchdown gap, it makes perfect sense considering how these teams have started the year.

Philly began the season on an entirely different continent, playing one of the NFC's final four teams on less-than-ideal field conditions. And it emerged with a 34-29 victory that showed off the Eagles' revamped offense (410 total yards) led by the addition of Saquon Barkley (132 yards from scrimmage, 3 total TDs).

The Falcons were one of the league's most active this offseason in retooling, yet it failed to score more than 10 points against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that isn't scary on paper. Kirk Cousins' two interceptions in the opener, including one that helped seal his new team's fate, have also already prompted questions about their QB situation.

Perhaps the Falcons' offense does get going later this season, but after how disjointed they looked on Sunday, there's no reason to believe a week gets them right. Especially against this Eagles defense that's loaded with talent.
