Eagles Still Being Disrespected in Super Bowl Odds Despite Hot Start

Despite boasting the NFL's best record, the Philadelphia Eagles are still not the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Sportsbooks have ranked them behind the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, both teams with lesser records.

It hasn't always been pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles keep finding ways to win. That was the case again in Week 8 as they came back to beat the Washington Commanders 38-31 on the road, improving to 7-1.

The Eagles have the best record in the NFL. Not only that, but they also went 14-3 last year and made it to the Super Bowl, so they're clearly not a fluke. Much of the roster is even the same as last year.

You'd think a team like that would be favored to win the Super Bowl this season, but that's not the case. Sportsbooks continue to show an alarming lack of respect for Philadelphia, ranking them behind multiple teams in their championship odds.

Eagles Super Bowl Odds

DraftKings Sportsbook, for instance, has the Eagles with the third-best Super Bowl odds as of Monday morning at +600. That's behind the Kansas City Chiefs (6-2) and the San Francisco 49ers (5-3), both of whom have worse records than Philadelphia.

The 49ers being ahead of the Eagles is particularly egregious. Not only have they lost three games in a row, but they don't even lead their division anymore. If the season ended today, they'd be a Wild Card team while Philadelphia would get a first-round bye.

San Francisco has a good team, but is it really better than the Eagles? Brock Purdy is a good quarterback, but not an MVP-caliber one like Jalen Hurts. The Niners also don't have any receivers who can hold a candle to A.J. Brown, who's easily the best wideout in the NFL this year.

Philly has an elite ground attack (seventh in rushing yards per game) and a strong defense (seventh-fewest points per game allowed) as well, so this team doesn't have any obvious weaknesses. Were it not for a late interception by Hurts against the New York Jets in Week 6, the Eagles would still be undefeated.

San Francisco is falling back to Earth, but the sportsbooks still haven't caught on yet. That makes this a good time to get some extra value on Philadelphia before they do.
