Eagles Sign Star Lineman to Big Extension

The Philadelphia Eagles are going through significant roster changes this offseason. There will be plenty of new faces coming in via free agency, trades, or the draft over the next couple of weeks, but at the very least there will be a familiar face leading the offensive line for years to come.
Landon Dickerson, the starting left guard for the Eagles has agreed to a four-year contract extension on Monday. The deal worth $84 million for four years makes Dickerson the highest-paid guard in NFL history.

Dickerson deserved his big payday with his performance for the first three seasons of his career. After falling to the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft due to durability concerns, the Alabama standout has developed into one of the best-run blockers in the NFL.
After transitioning from center to left guard in Philadelphia, Dickerson became only the seventh offensive lineman to earn two Pro Bowls in his first three seasons since 2011.
The Eagles' offensive line will look different next season without Jason Kelce. This will certainly have an impact on Dickerson's play as he thrived playing in between Kelce and Jordan Mailata. The transition will certainly require some adjustment but Dickerson has shown his versatility and consistency for it to be a serious long-term problem.
In addition to keeping one of their best offensive linemen for the foreseeable future, the Eagles also save $3 million in cap space for the 2024 season. This gives them more wiggle room to make the necessary upgrades for positions in need.
