Despite significant criticism from their fans, the Philadelphia Eagles are off to a good start to the NFL season, sitting at 2-1 ahead of their Week 4 clash with the Buccaneers. Yet, it is clear that they need upgrades to the roster, especially on the defensive side of the field.

The Eagles' need for more pass rush is well-documented. They fail to put pressure on the quarterback after Haason Reddick's departure in the offseason.

One area that doesn't get as much attention is the secondary. Reed Blankenship had a great start to the season but the same can't be said about C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The veteran defender has struggled through three games, accruing six missed tackles and allowing four catches and two touchdowns out of six targets in coverage.

An upgrade at safety is something GM Howie Roseman should seriously consider. One name Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox threw out was Budda Baker of the Arizona Cardinals.

"The Philadelphia Eagles would be logical suitors, given their ongoing search for defensive improvement. They added several pieces to their defense during the offseason, and Baker would be a versatile difference-maker for Vic Fangio to work with."

This move would make a ton of sense for the Eagles. Baker is in the final year of his contract but he is still in his prime and would warrant a long-term contract extension. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons and has proven himself to be one of the best in his position.

For Baker to be available, the Cardinals would have to be out of playoff contention. Once that happens, he could be available before November's trade deadline. He would likely require a second-round pick in a trade. Considering the new defensive ceiling he would help the Eagles reach, he might be worth that price tag.
