The Philadelphia Eagles are finally back on after a long offseason with training camp officially underway. Unfortunately, suiting up again also means players are in harm's way more consistently now than they were during spring workouts.

That opens the door for injuries to occur, and it appears one Eagles rookie has already fallen victim to an early injury.

During Thursday's practice, first-year linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was spotted down on the field tending to some kind of left leg problem. He was seen by trainers, but he eventually returned to practice, which ended shortly thereafter.

Yet, once the day's activities were done, the team then brought out a cart of the hurting LB. He was then seen hitching a ride as practice wrapped.

This news is definitely a concern. NFL players and leg injuries are never a good mix considering the major ligaments they rely on to do their jobs well. The fact Trotter Jr. was required/forced to ride on the cart by the team also shows some worry about making things even worse.

That being said, it's possible this move was one of just extreme precaution by Nick Sirianni's staff. The fact Trotter Jr. was able to get back on the field is a positive sign as well, as opposed to instantly being knocked out of play.

With Philadelphia's linebacker situation far from set in stone, Trotter Jr. is someone who could legitimately challenge for a big role at the jump. He showed a serious knack for playmaking in college at Clemson, recording four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two pick-sixes over his final two seasons with the Tigers.

That nose for the ball could help the rookie get on the field more than your average fifth-rounder, but it remains to be seen if this injury is just a blip, or something that presents an early hurdle in his career.
