Despite a busy last few weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles are still making roster moves as they look to gear up for another Super Bowl run. While most attention is on the NFL draft at the end of this month, there's still quality help available on the free-agent market as well.

While his peers are eyeing prospects, Howie Roseman has opted to sign a veteran instead.

Eagles News: CB Avonte Maddox is Back for Another Season

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles are re-signing cornerback Avonte Maddox. Philadelphia released him following an injury-riddled 2023 season, but both sides are now reuniting for another year.

Maddox's health struggles likely led to his cold reception in free agency. While undoubtedly a playmaker when on the field, Maddox has been sidelined more often than not lately, suiting up in just 13 of a possible 34 regular-season games over the past two seasons.

That clear unreliability, especially at an important position, is something a contender has every right to distance itself from. Given Philly is signing up for another year of Maddox's services, though, the team is showing clear faith his injury troubles will be behind him.

If the former fourth-round pick can stay healthy, he'd provide some much-needed stability at slot CB. The Eagles were forced to cycle through players at that position in 2023 after Maddox went down with a torn pec, trying out James Bradberry and Bradley Roby there, among others.

With 31 passes defended, four interceptions and eight forced fumbles throughout his career, Maddox is a legit weapon for this defense. A bounce-back season in 2024 would be massive for the Eagles' championship hopes.

The Eagles currently have the ninth-best odds in the NFL (+1600) to win the Super Bowl next season. Head over to FanDuel Sportsbook, sign up, and claim your $200 in bonus bets after your first winning wager.
