As roster cutdown day looms, player activity is expected to pick up across the league. After a few deals were made recently, the Philadelphia Eagles got in on the action Thursday, pulling off a significant trade to acquire wideout Jahan Dotson for a package of draft picks.

Though it was rumored Dotson might not last in Washington, this addition still took many by surprise, but in a good way. And while fans are celebrating the move, it turns out Eagles players are, too.

Veteran cornerback Darius Slay, who is always one to speak his mind on social media, applauded Philadelphia's GM Howie Roseman for going out and acquiring another legit talent soon after news of the swap was reported.

He wasn't the only one to say something, however, as running back Saquon Barkley showed clear happiness about Doton's arrival as well.

Barkley and Dotson have a strong connection as local standouts who went on to star at Penn State. The latter debuted for the Nittany Lions while the former was in the middle of his rookie NFL season, so while they were never direct teammates before this, there's no doubt Dotson and Barkley are familiar with each other in at least some way.

Now both will be part of the new Eagles arrivals for the 2024 season looking to get this team back to the Super Bowl. Barkley is undoubtedly going to be a crucial all-around weapon for this offense who can not only lead the ground attack, but make plays as a pass-catcher out of the backfield as well.

Meanwhile, this is a golden opportunity for Dotson to show the league what he can really do. He's shown flashes of being a young rising talent at his position, but his unexpected early exit from the Commanders will certainly sow some doubts about the former No. 16 overall pick.

In a revamped Philly offense, with major threats surrounding him and Jalen Hurts as his quarterback, though, Dotson could take his game to new heights as he returns home.
