Many expect the Philadelphia Eagles to be active on the phones with the NFL trade deadline just one week away. One area this Super Bowl contender needs an obvious boost in is the secondary, which has been rocked by injuries over the first seven games of the season.

Well, GM Howie Roseman it turns out just secured this unit some major help.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Eagles are trading for Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard. Moving Terrell Edmunds for an upgrade at the same position makes perfect sense, and only giving up a fifth- and sixth-round pick makes this a steal.

This is the exact kind of splash Roseman had to make considering the injuries affecting his defense. Avonte Maddox and Justin Evans are both on IR right now, while Reed Blankenship and Bradly Roby both missed the team's Week 7 game, which certainly gave some extra motivation to bring someone in.

Byard isn't just someone, though; he's one of the very best in the entire league. He's been a lynchpin of the Titans' secondary since entering the NFL in 2016, earning a pair of First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl needs. The former third-round pick is a serious playmaker, as evidenced by the whopping 30 turnovers (27 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles) he's racked up since 2017.

Even better, the hard-hitting safety is more than capable of being a team's last line of defense as well. He's recorded at least 88 tackles in each of the past three seasons, including a pair of 100-tackle efforts during that time. His impressive 202 solo tackles over this stretch shows he's as reliable as they come when in one-on-one situations as well.

Philadelphia had a need and Roseman filled it with an All-Pro. Deals at the deadline don't get much better than this.
