On Thursday, the 2024 NFL season officially returned when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens collided in an AFC showdown.

Now on Friday night, the action continues but this time in Brazil. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers are slated to square at 8:15 p.m. ET in an NFC matchup.

But ahead of the game, the Eagles decided to elevate two guys from the practice squad.

Eagles News: Two Players on Offense Are Elevated Before Tonight’s Game

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles have elevated tight end EJ Jenkins and offensive lineman Nick Gates to the active roster.

Prior to making these moves, the Eagles only had Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra as the tight ends on the active roster so having Jenkins gives them some insurance. He spent time on Philadelphia's practice squad last year and is now going to make his Eagles debut. During the preseason, Jenkins finished with nine receptions for 66 yards.

Meanwhile, this is the first game for Philly without Jason Kelce at center in over a decade. Cam Jurgens will be starting at center with Landon Dickerson at left guard and Mehki Becton at right guard. That leaves Trevor Keegan and Tyler Steen as backups at guard but having a veteran like Gates is a smart call. He can play any spot along the interior, making him valuable.

Football is a brutal sport so injuries can happen on any play so being prepared is the right call.

The hope is that neither guy has to play meaningful reps in this contest. The Eagles were aggressive in the offseason to improve the team and the time is finally here to see all these pieces together.
