Update: Nakobe Dean has officially been placed on the injured reserve list, knocking him out of the team's next four games. Our original story follows below.

The Philadelphia Eagles' bye week came at the perfect time with several key players on this roster hurting. One currently hampered contributor is linebacker Nakobe Dean, who suffered a significant foot injury in the team's last game against the Dallas Cowboys.

It's was quiet on the Dean front during the time off, but coming out of the bye, the team's received a big update on the second-year pro.

Dean had surgery to repair his Lisfranc injury, he shared on Instagram Wednesday night. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer added the LB is "likely" headed for the injured reserve list, which would be his second IR stint this season.

This news doesn't come as a major shock. Initial reports said Dean would see a foot specialist to determine his next steps of recovery, with surgery being chief among the possibilities.

At the very least, this now clears up expectations around Dean's return path. He'll be working his way back from surgery, and considering how that experience can be different depending upon the person, no one should think he'll be on the field anytime soon.

Placing the Georgia product on the injured reserve list removes some of the pressure to return sooner that he should, since he'll be required to miss at least four games. Some players take longer to come back from IR, so Dean won't be rushed to play if he's not 100% either.

Philadelphia thankfully has an obvious Dean replacement in Nicholas Morrow to turn to. Morrow started each of the four weeks Dean missed previously while on IR this season, recording 3.0 sacks, 20 solo tackles, 7 TFL, 1 forced fumble and even a safety during that time.
