Bye weeks are usually for healing up injuries and giving players time to rest and recover. Most teams come out of their bye healthier than they've been in weeks.

Instead, the Eagles have received a massive injury blow while they're off in Week 10:

Eagles News: Crushing Injury Update on Nakobe Dean

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean is expected to be placed on the injured reserve with a Lisfranc sprain. This would force Dean to miss at least four more games and would mark his second time on IR this season.

NFL rules allow a player to be designated to return from IR twice in the same season — meaning Dean would get the same four-week minimum he had after being placed on IR following the Week 1 win against the New England Patriots. But after that he would have to miss the remainder of the season if he went on I.R. again.

This is obviously a big blow for the defense. Dean has racked up 30 tackles through his five games this season, and Pro Football Focus has him as the Eagles' second-highest graded run defender.

Of course, we went 4-0 without Dean earlier this season. Zach Cunningham stepped up in a big way during that time, and we're probably better suited to survive Dean's absence this time around.

The only Eagle that leads Dean in PFF's run defense grade is Kevin Byard, who wasn't in town for Dean's first IR stint.

Ultimately at 8-1 the priority should be keeping this team healthy and ready for the playoffs, so you'd much rather see Dean on IR than rushing back and making his injury worse.
