Eagles Lose Veteran Defender to Bitter AFC Rival
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to hit the ground rolling in 2024. Things went off the rails for them towards the back half of the 2023 season
That forced general manager Howie Roseman to be aggressive in terms of adding more talent throughout the offseason. They were able to add difference makers in free agency and the NFL Draft that raised the floor of the team.
Since that happened, it pushed more guys to the bottom of the roster. NFL cutdown day was on Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. ET. Teams were tasked with getting their rosters down to 53 men.
The Eagles successfully did that but they had to release some guys who were on the team for a few years. And one guy was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL News: Marlon Tuipulotu Will Be Joining the Kansas City Chiefs Practice Squad
Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Chiefs are signing defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu to the practice squad.
Tuipulotu joined the Eagles back in 2021 when he was picked in the sixth round out of USC. He appeared in 28 games, supplying 43 total tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, and one fumble recovery.
He was a nice depth piece along the defensive front in Philadelphia but now he will be looking to make his way onto the Chiefs 53-man roster.
As an Eagles fan, it may be a bit annoying to see a former player join the Chiefs. It still stings that the Chiefs outlasted the Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII but it's a new season, so anything can happen.
Philadelphia has the playmakers to make it back to the Super Bowl and potentially bring home the Lombardi trophy.
