Released Eagles Vet Posts Goodbye to Philly After Being Cut
The 2024 NFL regular season is set to start next week after months of transactions, speculation, and constant chatter.
There weren't many other teams in the NFL who were more aggressive in the offseason than the Philadelphia Eagles. General manager Howie Roseman made it his mission to add difference-makers to both sides of the ball.
Doing that is better for the overall talent of the team but that made it harder for the guys on the backend of the roster to make the squad.
One defender was released by Philadelphia earlier this week and posted a farewell to the fanbase on X.
Eagles News: Zech McPhearson Post Goodbye to Philadelphia
Rosters cuts were taking place this week, as all 32 teams in the NFL had to trim their rosters down to 53 men by Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. ET.
Countless players were left without a job and cornerback Zech McPhearson was one of them. On Aug. 26, McPhearson posted a farewell to the city of Philadelphia, letting the world know that he's been released.
McPhearson came into the NFL as a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Eagles. Even though he was there for three years, he didn't have much of an impact. He compiled 30 total tackles and two pass breakups.
Last year, he missed the entire 2023 season after he tore his Achilles in a preseason matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
The Eagles also reshaped their secondary, adding Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Isaiah Rodgers to the fold for 2024.
That made McPhearson's roster spot shaky and Philly decided to move on. Even though he's no longer on the team, he felt the love from the city and wanted to post a goodbye message.
Things change quickly in the NFL but as of now, he won't be a part of the 2024 roster.
