Eagles Lose Valued Coach For Jalen Hurts
The Philadelphia Eagles will be undergoing a rebrand on the offensive side after a disappointing loss in the Wild Card Round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles roster is one of the most talented groups in the league but need to do some retooling during the offseason. It also looks like changes are coming to the offensive side of the ball as Jalen Hurts will have a new position coach in 2024.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Eagles QB coach Alex Tanney will not be returning to the team.
Eagles News: Jalen Hurts Losing His Quarterback Coach
This shouldn't come as a surprise to Eagles fans after they let offensive coordinator Brian Johnson go. Head coach Nick Sirianni hinted at a press conference that the new OC will be working with the quarterback specifically.
"We're working on getting the best guy in here for the job and a guy who has a vision. A guy who's going to call the plays, a guy who's going to be able to coach the quarterback in the same sense there."
- Nick Sirianni
Tanney was with Philadelphia since 2021 and was the assistant quarterback coach in 2022 before getting promoted to the quarterbacks coach in 2023.
Hurts put up some outstanding numbers over the past two seasons under Tanney's watch. The Alabama product threw for 7,559 passing yards and 45 passing touchdowns. Additionally, he racked up 1,365 rushing yards with 28 rushing scores.
Due to a lackluster finish to the year, there will be some new voices over in Philly.
