The Philadelphia Eagles are officially onto the Los Angeles Rams after taking down the Washington Commanders this past weekend. One major pregame storyline surrounds Philly's health, with several key contributors currenly on the mend.

While injuries has been a major struggle for this team lately, it appears things are looking up for the Eagles.

Beat reporters on hand for the team's first Week 5 practice had several encouraging updates. First off, punt returner Britain Covey -- who's currenly in concussion protocol -- was getting in some work to begin preparations for the Rams game. The fact he's not entirely sidelined is a surprise in itself, and it could hint at a quicker-than-usual return for the playmaker.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia's secondary could receive a much-needed boost this week as well. Safeties Sydney Brown and Justin Evans were both practicing on Wednesday, which is a great sign. Brown was unable to practice all throughout last week before being made inactive for the Washington matchup, while Evans didn't practice in full until Friday and he, too, was ultimately sidelined for the win over the Commanders.

Last but not least, linebacker Nakobe Dean was looking spry in drills, according to reporters. He's sat out the team's last three games after being placed on the injured reserve list due a foot injury, but the second-year pro is eligible to be activated after this week. These early returns seem to indicate he's right on schedule and won't miss any extra time.

While Philadelphia's play has been a big local and national talking point to begin the season, it's obvious the team's laundry list of injuries have played a role in that. While the offense doesn't have many excuses, this talented defense hasn't been at full strength yet, keeping this squad from reaching its true potential.

Fans should continue to keep an eye on the injury report this week, but it'd be no surprise if the Eagles welcome back a few key players on Sunday.
