2. Shaq Leonard, LB

A small-school product turned superstar, Shaq Leonard joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 as a second-round pick out of South Carolina State. He shot out of the gate with 163 tackles, 7.0 sacks, and two interceptions as a rookie. His work was enough to land him the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Leonard continued to excel after that, recording at least 120 tackles in each of the next three seasons. This led to a massive extension as he and the Colts agreed to a five-year, $99.25 million contract with $52.5 million guaranteed. Unfortunately, he started to struggle with his health after signing the new deal.

In 2022, Leonard played in just three games as he missed the start of the season while recovering from back surgery. He debuted in Week 4 but a concussion and broken nose sidelined him again. After that, the back issue gave him more problems.

Despite saying he was fully recovered, the Colts limited his snaps in 2023 and he was eventually released. The Eagles landed him in November after a recruiting battle with the Dallas Cowboys. Leonard wound up playing in five games with three starts for Philly. He finished with 23 tackles and one sack but there's no denying he wasn't close to the player we saw early in his career.
