The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, but the injury bug has been attacking their supporting cast this month. Second-string blockers Matt Hennessy (back) and Tyler Steen (ankle) are currently dealing with injuries at the moment, leaving the Eagles to look for reinforcements as the Aug. 27 roster deadline looms.

After releasing veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah on Wednesday, it only took the Eagles a few hours to fill the newly open roster spot with another offensive lineman.

Eagles News: Philadelphia Reunites with OG Jason Poe

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that the Eagles are bringing back offensive tackle Jason Poe. The 26-year-old blocker was signed to a futures contract in January before being released by the team on Aug. 5.

It'll be interesting to see if Poe manages to hold onto an NFL job now that he's back with the Eagles.

Following a solid collegiate career across three programs, Poe was signed by the San Francisco 49ers after going unselected at the 2022 NFL Draft. Although he managed to play well in the preseason, the Fitzgerald, GA native was limited to the 49ers' practice squad and had a similar experience with the New York Jets last year before signing with the Eagles in January.

Poe, 26, is an interesting roster candidate as the summer winds down. On one hand, his 6-foot-1, 300-pound makes him — by far — the smallest member of Philadelphia's O-line. On the other hand, his pro day combine measurements stacked up well against some of the 2022 class' most promising blockers, leaving time to tell if he can translate those measurables into NFL success.

Poe will make his final push to crack the Eagles' 53-man roster during Saturday's preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing Philadelphia as the 1.5-point home favorite in a matchup with a projected total of 33.5 points.
