Eagles Announce Exciting Cooper DeJean News as OTAs Kick Off
There may not be a team in the league that transformed their roster more this offseason than the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia started the 2023 campaign 10-1 before completely collapsing.
This led to GM Howie Roseman being aggressive and improving the roster. It started in free agency as their biggest addition was RB Saquon Barkley.
They continued to add talent in the 2024 NFL Draft when they significantly bolstered the secondary. Philly drafted CBs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with their first two selections.
With OTAs about to kick start for Philly, Cooper DeJean and the Eagles provide some great news.
Eagles News: Cooper DeJean Agrees to Terms on His Rookie Deal
With OTAs officially starting on May 20, the Eagles and rookie CB Cooper DeJean agreed to a four-year deal worth $9.28 million.
DeJean now joins Jalyx Hunt, Will Shipley, and Ainias Smith as the signed rookies from the 2024 draft class.
The Iowa product was an impactful playmaker throughout his three years in college. DeJean has the versatility to line up in the slot, at safety, or as an outside corner.
He has terrific instincts and can make a play on the ball when it heads in his direction. From 2021-2023, the 21-year-old logged 120 total tackles, 13 pass deflections, and seven interceptions.
At his pro day, DeJean blew scouts away with his athleticism. He ran a 4.43 40-yard dash, a 38.5" inch vertical jump, and a 10'4" broad jump. These numbers helped him earn an unofficial 9.89 Relative Atheltic Score out of a possible 10.
Now with his contract locked in, DeJean can just focus on learning as much as he can while attempting to make plays in practice over the next couple of months.
