Eagles 7-Round Mock Draft After Super Bowl: Secondary Gets Big Boost
By Randy Gurzi
Following the hottest start to the season in 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles went through the biggest letdown to close out the year. Their struggles down the stretch, and the early playoff exit, led to several coaching changes this offseason.
Nick Sirianni remained as the head coach but he has two new coordinators with Kellen Moore taking over on offense and Vic Fangio on defense. Now, they need to turn their attention to the roster — which has a few holes. Here, we aim to fill those holes with our post-Super Bowl 2024 Eagles mock draft.
Round 1: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama
Darius Slay returns and while he had some struggles in 2023, he remains a top cornerback in the NFL. He’s more than capable of lining up against any team’s opposing No. 1 wideout but the help around him was lacking, to say the least.
James Bradberry had a year to forget and could be on the way out. Avonte Maddox is a talented slot corner but has issues staying on the field. All that being said, the Eagles would be wise to add more talent to their secondary, which is why Kool-Aid McKnstry is the choice in Round 1.
A shut down defender for Alabama, McKinstry has the size and length to give receivers problems on the boundary. He’s an incredibly athlete who moves fluidly and while he would be the No. 2 corner across from Slay, he can develop into the top defensive back in time.
