The Philadelphia Eagles have been shelling out money over the past few years to make sure their stars are taken care of and are in town for the long haul. In 2023, Philly and Jalen Hurts agreed to terms on a five-year, $255 million deal. Meanwhile, A.J. Brown inked a four-year, $100 million deal after being acquired by the team in 2022.

His running mate Devonta Smith is now eligible to receive a contract extension after being in the NFL for three years.

There have been some early reports that Smith will get $25 million plus in his next deal. ESPN Jeremy Fowler said that both sides have been in contact for a while now regarding a new contract but Smith is willing to wait before signing a new deal because big-money WR extensions are expected to go down soon.

Eagles News: DeVonta Smith Playing Hardball in Contract Negotiations

Minnesota's Justin Jefferson, Detroit's Amon-Ra St-Brown, and Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are all lined up to secure massive paydays.

Smith could just be waiting to have one of these guys lock down a new deal before looking a notch a nice extension.

Those playmakers will certainly raise the WR market and that's what Smith is waiting on.

In three seasons with the Eagles, he logged 240 receptions (352 targets) for 3,178 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns, including back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

He will easily get $25 million a year but how much higher will it go if one of those studs listed above signs a new deal? Could it get to the $30-35 million range? Who knows but Smith is patient and won't rush to ink a new contract.

Smith is in line for a massive payday but so could you. The Eagles have one of the best rosters in the league and own a real shot of reaching Super Bowl LIX.
