Darius Slay Just Made His Life More Difficult for 2024 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2024 season with sky-high expectations. Even though their 2023 season ended on a sour note, they made sure to add quality playmakers on both sides of the ball.

That list includes Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson added in free agency before adding both Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Those guys join a long list of stars on the roster with Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Darius Slay.

Rookies and veterans both report on July 23 for training camp.

Even though we are seven weeks away from the start of the regular season, Slay's latest comment could have made his life harder in 2024.

Eagles News: Darius Slay Puts Unnecessary Attention on Himself

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler released an article highlighting the Top 10 corners ranked by coaches, executives, and scouts. New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was No. 3 on the list and an NFL executive called him overrated and said you could call holding on him on every play.

Slay then responded to that tweet by saying, "I try to hold every play the best just kno how to get away with it!"

That statement could have refs looking in his direction more often in 2024. There are certain things that players try to away with, especially the top guys. Slay didn't have to expose himself by saying he looks to hold on every play.

In a crucial play against the Buffalo Bills last season, there was some chatter that the refs missed a holding call on Slay.

After the game, Slay said on X, "Refs miss calls all the time.. nobody perfect. But holding an grabbing goes on every play. If they would’ve called it I wouldn’t be mad at all!"

That might change in 2024 now with refs throwing the flag. We'll just have to wait and see.
