Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Unveils New Eagles Jersey Number
The Eagles have made plenty of splash moves this offseason as they are regrouping for the 2024 season. The long list of moves includes signing Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, and bringing back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
This is Gardner-Johnson's second stint with the Eagles and he is ready to roll. This time around in Philadelphia, he will be rocking a new jersey number.
In a press conference with reporters on Mar. 15, Gardner-Johnson said he will be rocking No. 8 next season in honor of the late Kobe Bryant.
He said, "My favorite player [Kobe] is from here. Tapping into a new mentality. It's something people will be great to see this year. I'm on my Kobe mode right now. I'm coming out with the Mamba. I'm coming out with the 8 this year."

Gardner-Johnson has looked up to Bryant and he wants to pay some homage to his favorite player. One of the biggest ways to show respect in professional sports is by wearing the same number as your idol.
The Florida product provides the Eagles with a rangy and disruptive defender in the secondary. He can line up around the line of scrimmage and guard slot receivers but also can play over the top.
In five NFL seasons, the 26-year-old compiled 245 total tackles, 39 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions.
