The Philadelphia Eagles have had bad injury luck in the past few weeks. First, it was AJ Brown. Then, it was DeVonta Smith leaving the Saints game with a concussion. The latest offensive weapon the Eagles are losing for an extended period of time is wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey.

Covey suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3 and was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday. He just addressed his injury in a press conference and said he broke a bone in his shoulder and that there is additional tissue damage. He also provided a timeline of six weeks for his recovery which will not require surgery.

Eagles News: Britain Covey Out for Six Weeks

This is another blow for the Eagles who may also have Smith and Brown out for their game against the Bucs on Sunday. Covey saw a larger offensive load in the last two weeks. In the Atlanta game in Week 2, he had six catches for six targets, significantly more than he is used to in the passing game.

Jacob Harris and Ainias Smith are on the IR list right now, further depleting the wide receiver room in Philadelphia. Jahan Dotson, Parris Campbell, and Johnny Wilson are the only healthy receivers on the 53-man roster. John Ross was elevated to provide additional depth in the position.

Another area Covey will sorely be missed is the punt return. As one of the best return men in the league, Covey will be hard to replace. Prized rookie Cooper DeJean will presumably take over those duties in Week 4. How well he fares in that role will be hugely important for the Eagles in Covey's absence.
