Beloved Ex-Eagle Cut for Second Time Already This Season

Boston Scott has been finding it difficult to find his next NFL team ever since his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles expired. The 29-year-old running back, who spent six seasons with the Eagles, was released by the Los Angeles Rams three weeks ago. He then signed with the Steelers but his stint there didn't last very long. After being placed on the injured list on September 4, he was released with an injury settlement on Friday.
NFL News: RB Boston Scott Released by the Steelers
The details of Scott's injury are currently unknown but it is an unfortunate turn of events for the veteran rusher. Scott will now try to get healthy and find another team to sign with before the end of the season.
Scott had a huge role in the Eagles' Super Bowl run in 2022, scoring a touchdown in both the Divisional Round and the NFC championship game. He was a fan favorite in Philadelphia thanks to his ability to show up in big games, especially against the New York Giants.
During his time with the Eagles, Scott never became the RB1 for the team. He played in 75 games and recorded 302 carries for 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns. He added a further 566 yards and a touchdown in the passing game. He was also used as a returner throughout his tenure.
Even though he never had a huge role with the team, his stats against the Giants were incredibly impressive. He has 90 carries for 422 yards and nine touchdowns against New York for his career, earning himself the nickname "the Giant Killer".
The Eagles currently have a rotation of Saquon Barkley, Kenneth Gainwell, and Will Shipley in the running back room. If Scott can get healthy, he could be an intriguing depth option behind this group.
