Perhaps more upsetting for Eagles fans than the Monday Night Football loss to the Atlanta Falcons was the update they received about their star receiver AJ Brown. During the broadcast, ESPN's Lisa Salters reported that Brown would miss several weeks with a hamstring injury. She based this reporting directly on Brown, much to the surprise of Eagles fans and the organization. In fact, head coach Nick Sirianni said he didn't know anything about that update after the game.

Brown finally broke his silence and sent a message to the fans on social media. The three-time Pro Bowler said that his "comeback is about to be different".

Eagles News: Injured AJ Brown Sends Message to Fans

This social media post obviously doesn't explain much about Brown's injury. However, it pretty much confirms what we already knew. He is about to miss some time.

The Eagles desperately need that time to be as short as possible. This was the first regular-season game Brown has ever missed as an Eagle. He has previously missed the Wild Card game against the Bucs last season and the Eagles were completely outplayed in that outing as well. The offense hasn't functioned the same way without Jalen Hurts' No. 1 target out there.

DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson were supposed to have a larger role in Brown's absence but it's clear that Hurts and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore don't trust Dotson yet. The new acquisition finished the game with one target. Return specialist Britain Covey played a much bigger role than we have grown accustomed to in the passing game. However, it was Hurts' and Saquon Barkley's legs that were the primary weapons for the Eagles' offense.

Until Brown gets back, that will likely continue to be the case. Philadelphia plays New Orleans and Tampa Bay on the road in the next two weeks. They will have to win at least one of those games without Brown to feel better about themselves heading into their bye in Week 5. Otherwise, chaos may be awaiting Nick Sirianni and the rest of the organization.
