Eagles fans have been holding their breath since A.J. Brown went down with a knee injury in an ultimately meaningless Week 18 matchup against the New York Giants.

Things haven't looked good all week, with missed practices and then Brown himself stoking the flames with some social media drama.

Well the moment Eagles fans have been fearing is here.

Eagles News: A.J. Brown Ruled Out in Latest Injury Update

Adam Schefter reported on Saturday morning that A.J. Brown has been ruled out with his knee injury for Monday's Wild Card matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brown reportedly "could" return if the Eagles win on Monday to advance to the Divisional Round, but that doesn't sound especially definitive from Schefter. And the fact remains that advancing is far from a given.

The Eagles are only slight favorites on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is noteworthy, however, that the betting line didn't really budge when Brown was officially ruled out. Oddsmakers suspected all week that he wouldn't play, and they favor Philly anyway.

The success of this offense also hasn't necessarilyt been tied to Brown. Philly is 3-1 in the four games in which Browns tallied fewer than 50 receiving yards. Of course we tend to pass more when trailing, so that stat isn't make-or-break, but it's an indicator that his absence doesn't doom us.

And on the other side of the coin, DeVonta Smith has four games with 99+ receiving yards this season. The Eagles are 4-0 in those contests. We're also 6-1 when he has over 75 receiving yards.

Maybe this is a hot take, but I'd be more worried about Smith being sidelined than I am Brown.
