AJ Brown Situation Gets Even Worse With Missed Practice on Friday

With a massive Wild Card showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looming, the Philadelphia Eagles received a terrible injury update regarding A.J. Brown on Friday as the wideout missed yet another practice.

The Philadelphia Eagles need all hands on deck when they go head-to-head with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Monday's NFC Wild Card showdown. Unfortunately, it's looking like the Eagles could be without one of their top playmakers to open the postseason.

Eagles insider Eliot Shorr-Parks reports that star wide receiver A.J. Brown was absent from Friday's practice session due to an ongoing knee injury. That's extremely concerning news considering that the 26-year-old also sat out of Thursday's practice.

Eagles News: AJ Brown Misses Friday's Practice

Although a portion of the fanbase is likely panicking, Brown's Wild Card availability isn't official just yet. The Eagles still have one more practice on Saturday, leaving time to tell if the three-time Pro Bowl wideout will be healthy enough to face the Buccaneers.

There's no doubt that Philadelphia would prefer not to be without its No. 1 wideout to begin the postseason. Brown has been the Eagles' top offensive threat since being acquired from the Tennessee Titans in 2022, recording 194 catches for 2,952 yards and 18 TDs across 34 games over the last two seasons.

If Brown is unable to face the Bucs, look for the likes of Olamide Zaccheus, Julio Jones, and Quez Watkins to see more opportunities alongside WR2 DeVonta Smith. Unfortunately, the aforementioned trio hasn't been all that productive, combining for 36 catches, 380 yards, and six TDs.

For reference, Brown posted a 106-1,456-7 stat line on his own in the regular season.

Brown's latest injury update comes shortly after rumors regarding a potential rift with the franchise. Although the former Mississippi WR did his best to clear the air last week, he's back under the microscope after deleting all mentions of the Eagles from his Instagram page on Friday.

Hopefully, the off-field distractions stop, and Brown is healthy enough to help the Eagles overcome the Buccaneers on Monday.

As the Wild Card action approaches, Philadelphia is in a three-way tie for the fifth-best odds to win Super Bowl LVIII next month. Those odds might seem harsh for the reigning NFC champ, but that's what happens when you're only a 3-point favorite in a Wild Card matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
