The pressure is on the Philadelphia 76ers to be a serious championship contender next season. The Boston Celtics will be the defending champions. The New York Knicks will be healthier and they added more pieces this offseason. The Bucks will have Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard looking to redeem themselves after a disappointing season.

As for the 76ers, they will have over $60 million in cap space and are expected to be major players in free agency. With Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey being their dynamic duo, they need to surround them with impactful players and it's been reported that Philly will have interest in a four-time NBA Champion.

76ers Will Have Interest in Klay Thompson

Sam Amick and Anthony Slater of the Athletic dropped an article where they discussed what's happening around the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.

In that piece, it was revealed that Thompson is going to have interest from the Philadelphia 76ers.

"There remains no official contract offer and little contact between Thompson and the Warriors, league sources said, as the potential end of his 13-year run with the franchise becomes more plausible. A league source said Philadelphia has interest in Thompson."

Thompson has been with the Warriors since being selected in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft. Now it looks like his tenure with them is coming to an end and Philly could be an option.

Thompson is the exact type of player that Philadelphia needs. The 34-year-old may not be the same defender he was in his prime but he still can be effective on the perimeter guarding multiple positions.

The five-time All-Star excels playing off the ball and would give the 76ers a dependable 3-point shooter. Last season with the Warriors, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and shot 38.7% from beyond the arc.

Having Thompson and Maxey out on the perimeter with Embiid dominating in the paint would be inciting for the 76ers.
