3 76ers on the Nice List (& 2 on the Naughty List) This Christmas
76ers Nice List #3: Nicolas Batum
76ers fans weren't too excited when Nicolas Batum arrived in the City of Brotherly Love. After all, the 35-year-old veteran was a thrown-in as a part of the James Harden deal due to his $11.7 million cap hit this season, which comes off the books when he hits free agency next summer.
While he isn't going to pull off highlight-reel plays or win a game on his own, Batum has been a solid addition to the 76ers' starting lineup. The French power forward has done a bit of everything so far, averaging 6.2 PTS/3.9 REB/2.2 AST while shooting 56.1% from the floor and 49.0% from the three-point line.
Furthermore, his 151 offensive rating per 100 possessions is, by far, the highest mark of his 16-year career.
Again, Batum isn't a household name, but his reliable play is a key reason why the 76ers are 13-4 when he's in the lineup this season. There's always a chance that he could wind up behing moved ahead of the trade deadline as a salary filler, but continuing at his current pace might just keep him in Philly for the season.
Regardless of what the future looks like, Batum deserves a Merry Christmas this weekend.
