Eagles Dud: Brian Johnson, Offensive Coordinator (First Half)

The Eagles had a very promising opening drive that covered 71 yards on 12 plays. Dallas Goedert was the key figure, pulling in back-to-back receptions for 22 yards. The second catch moved the ball to the Miami eight.

But then, the drive ended with a dud due to a trio of run plays that Miami had perfectly scouted. First was a read-option where Hurts kept the ball and ran to his right. He was met immediately by linebacker Jerome Baker, who wasn't fooled by the fake handoff and Hurts was tackled for a two-yard loss.

Next, was a one-yard run from Kenneth Gainwell. That moved the ball back inside the 10 but they were still facing a third-and-goal from the nine. Despite the distance, offensive coordinator Brian Johnson went with another run, this time a quarterback draw right up the middle. Unsurprisingly, the Dolphins had no problem at all stopping the run with Bradley Chubb tackling Hurts after just three yards.

Philly has had some issues in the red zone this year and this time, they didn't even attempt a pass once they got inside the 10. That felt like a mistake considering they moved down the field by challenging the secondary.

Johnson's play calls were much better in the second half but the red zone issues early were concerning.
