Kenny Pickett

There has been a ton of negativity surrounding Kenny Pickett heading into the preseason. Even though the Eagles traded for him in the offseason to be the primary backup to Jalen Hurts, there have been reports about him potentially falling behind Tanner McKee in the depth chart.

The former Steeler nipped that in the bud for now against the Ravens.

Pickett looked comfortable in the pocket and showed poise and accuracy. Starting the game instead of Hurts, the 26-year-old had an excellent drive early on, going for 5/5 for 39 yards and a touchdown pass to rookie running back Will Shipley. He finished the game going 14-of-22 for 89 yards and a touchdown, looking solid until he was replaced by McKee in the third quarter.

His main competition for QB2, McKee, didn't look as good, finishing 6-of-16 for 39 yards. In his defense, he didn't play with any starters or reliable threats so it's hard to knock him for that. However, it's clear that Pickett has passed him on the depth chart for now.

It was important to see Pickett delivering a strong performance despite the negative reports out of training camp. The former first-round pick has the chance to be one of the best backups in the league after leading the Steelers to a 14-10 record as a starter in the past two seasons.
