The Philadelphia Eagles are off in Week 10 thanks to their bye, which also happens to coincide with the halfway point of the 2023 season. Without a game to prepare for, this will give the coaching staff the time to evaluate their roster and identify areas for improvement.

While the Eagles have started the year 8-1, there's still a few contributors who haven't pulled their weight. As a result, there's a handul of players who are on thin ice entering the second half of the year.

1. Rashaad Penny

It is painfully obvious the offseason signing of running back Rashaad Penny hasn't gone as hoped. Initially, some thought Penny could emerge as the team's RB1 following the loss of Miles Sanders considering his eletric playmaking ability.

Instead, Penny's struggled to see the field in Philadelphia despite avoiding his usual injury problems. He's only appeared in two games so far, and both opportunities were because another RB was forced to miss the contest, rather than him passing anyone on the depth chart.

That leaves Penny as the Eagles' fourth-string back heading into the second half of the year. The fact he hasn't enjoyed an uptick in work after settling in is especially concerning.

After all, this is a player who led the league yards per attempt (6.3) in 2021 and followed that up with a 6.1 mark last season. Considering how Philadelphia's run game has been a complete afterthought given its struggles, you'd think Penny would be given a chance to help provide a spark.

It appears Penny still has a mountain of work cut out for him before he even contends for a regular spot in this RB rotation.
