He's not technically on the roster in 2024 so there's no danger of being cut but Shaq Leonard should be ready to consider himself an ex-Eagle after this latest move — if he wasn't already.

Both Kevin Byard and Leonard were added during the season in 2023 with Byard being added just ahead of the trade deadline in a move with the Tennessee Titans. Another former member of the AFC South, Leonard was released by the Indianapolis Colts in mid-November.

He then went on a highly publicized free agency tour between the two top teams in the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys had the first crack at landing Leonard but he chose the Eagles, where he had some familiarity with Nick Sirrianni who was also formerly with the Colts.

Philly was stoked to land a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and three-time Pro Bowler but some weren't sold on the move. They were concerned his back injuries had caught up to him and when Leonard suited up for the Eagles, that appeared to be the case.

He finished with 23 tackles and a sack in five games for the Eagles but wasn't an impactful player at all. He's now heading to the open market and the Eagles should be looking for a replacement elsewhere.
