The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the top squads in the NFL. They own a 12-2 record rolling into Week 16 and have won ten straight games. This group is fighting to land the No. 1 seed in the NFC and the next three games are critical.

Last week, the Eagles knocked off the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-13 in the battle of Pennsylvania. In that contest, head coach Nick Sirianni got into a sideline tiff with defensive line coach Clint Hurtt after Jalen Carter picked up an unnecessary roughness penalty. Sirianni gave some insight into what happened.

During the fourth quarter, Carter was called for unnecessary roughness after hitting tight end Connor Heyward in the head. This was the second time that the Georgia product was hit with that call in 2024 and Sirianni wanted to speak with him about it on the sideline.

Instead, Hurtt stepped in and didn't let Sirianni approach Carter. Sirianni said, "I'll never get into the conversations that I have with players, but he made a play that is not part of our standard, so my job is to correct that. Regardless of what it is, we're going to correct the things that we need to do better and praise the things we need to do well."

Sirianni and Carter were seen hugging on the sideline later in the game, showcasing there is no bad blood between these two sides.

The 43-year-old knows the Eagles will be playing uber-important games in the near future and wants Carter to keep his cool. They can't afford to give away free yards and Sirianni wanted to get that message across.

"That's what you do as a coach. Again, he played a good game, and I'll watch the game to see how good of a game he played, but we need him to be better in that scenario and be the consistent player he's been for the entire year."

The Eagles end the season with three straight NFC East games against the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants. They are looking for Carter to keep his poise and end the season with good momentum.
