A 13-year veteran who spent six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Rodney McLeod, has been talking about his retirement plans after the 2024 campaign. Before the start of the season, McLeod announced that this would be his final year in his illustrious NFL career. Unfortunately, however, his farewell campaign hasn't gone according to plan.

Playing for a team with a 3-11 record was certainly not what McLeod had envisioned for his last season. The Cleveland Browns had just made the postseason a year ago and McLeod came back for another season with the hopes of competing for a Super Bowl.

Therefore, he was asked whether this forced him to reconsider his plans. The 34-year-old defender said he was comfortable with the end to his story and that he would still retire after the season, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

NFL News: Browns S Rodney McLeod Still Retiring After the Season

Even though the final chapter of his career wasn't what he had in mind, McLeod had a career that will be remembered fondly, especially by Eagles fans. Initially an undrafted free agent, McLeod spent the first four seasons of his career with the Rams before signing with Philadelphia as a free agent in the 2016 offseason. He spent the best years of his career there, starting in 75 games and recording 11 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two sacks, and eight tackles for loss.

The only times McLeod played in the playoffs were when he was in Philadelphia. In his first postseason appearance, McLeod helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl, starting in all three games, recording six tackles, and breaking up a pass in Super Bowl LII.

McLeod then went on to play for the Colts and the Browns but didn't find the same level of success. He missed the second half of the season and the playoffs last year after suffering a torn biceps in Week 11. He returned this year and played in every game for the Browns, once again demonstrating his consummate professionalism. That is how he will be remembered after his playing days are over.
