When the Philadelphia Eagles signed veteran defender Devin White in the 2024 offseason, they thought they were getting a Pro Bowl linebacker who could start for this team. Yes, he had fallen out of favor in Tampa Bay in 2023 but White was one of the best players in his position in the first three seasons of his career. A one-year "prove it" deal in Philadelphia was a win-win situation for both sides as White re-established his career.

Things, however, didn't go according to plan. Two weeks ago, before White could even play a snap for the Eagles, he was released. It didn't take too long for him to find himself a new team. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, White is signing with the Houston Texans ahead of Week 8.

White was reportedly unhappy with his role in Philadelphia and seemingly wasn't going to take Nakobe Dean's starting job. This move to Houston will allow him to finally make his season debut while also giving him a chance to contend and win his second Super Bowl.

Sitting at 5-2, the Texans have been one of the best teams in the league so far. They have been dealing with significant injuries to their linebacker rotation, with key starters Henry To'oTo'o and Azeez Al-Shaair both missing the crucial Week 7 matchup against the Packers.

The addition of White will give the Texans insurance during these absences as they continue a tough slate of games against the Colts, Jets, Lions, and Cowboys in the next four weeks.
