Kenny Pickett Makes Big Announcement Ahead of Eagles-Cowboys Showdown
By Cem Yolbulan
The Philadelphia Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday for an NFC East clash. The stakes are not as high as they usually are this time around after the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention last week. The Eagles have similarly made things more difficult for themselves by losing to the Commanders as they now have a very slim path to the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Still, the Eagles have a lot to play for in terms of playoff seeding and potential home-field advantage. The most important storyline ahead of the final two games of the regular season for the Eagles has been the quarterback situation.
Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion against the Commanders and was replaced by Kenny Pickett. Later in the fourth quarter, Pickett injured his ribs. He was able to continue playing but his status was up in the air all week after going through additional tests.
On Thursday, Pickett revealed his status for the Cowboys game and said he is "ready to go".
Eagles News: Kenny Pickett Ready to Start in Week 17
This is a positive development for the Eagles. The fans obviously want to see Hurts under center, but their star QB hasn't practiced this week, putting his availability in serious jeopardy for Sunday.
Pickett, on the other hand, revealed that he was able to go through a full practice on Thursday, per ESPN's Tim McManus. He said he didn't expect to have any limitations in the game.
The former Steelers starter wasn't particularly amazing against Washington, failing to hold onto the lead. He wasn't bad, either. If Hurts can't play, Pickett obviously gives the Eagles the best chance to win over third-string QB Tanner McKee.
