The Philadelphia Eagles lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, 36-33. As a result of the Eagles' loss, their chances of securing the No. 1 seed are way lower than they were entering this week. Yet, that's not the worst outcome from this game, as Jalen Hurts left early in the first quarter with a concussion.

That meant former Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett entered the game. Pickett showed little to no signs of improvement when he took over for Hurts. That said, it seems that Pickett sustained a rib injury during the game. According to ESPN''s Tim McManus, Pickett told reporters after the game his ribs were x-rayed, and he is set for further testing this week.

Tanner McKee Should Have Replaced Jalen Hurts

Entering this game, Pickett had thrown the same amount of touchdowns as he had interceptions, 13. So, it should be no surprise that the trend continued in his first appearance with the Eagles. Pickett ended Sunday's game by completing 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Even with how dominant Saqoun Barkley has been all season, that level of quarterback play makes it hard to win games. Hopefully, Hurts' concussion will be healed in time for the playoffs.

In the meantime, the Eagles should heavily consider giving Tanner McKee playing time. McKee was the Eagles' sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft and has yet to see the field in a regular season game.

During his three seasons at Stanford, McKee completed 63.2% of his passes (473/748) for 5,336 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. If Hurts is unable to go next week, the Eagles should strongly consider starting McKee instead of Pickett.

The next two weeks, the Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. Although the Cowboys defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they still aren't a great team this season. The Giants, on the other hand, are a complete joke right now, so any quarterback the Eagles trot out against them should light them up.

Perhaps the Eagles won't need to start either Pickett or McKee these next two weeks if Hurts clears concussion protocol. Nevertheless, if one of them must start, the Eagles should go with McKee.
