After a less-than-stellar showing from the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense through the first two weeks of the regular season, Eagles fans were hoping that the offense would snap out of their funk on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. That did not happen in the first half as Jalen Hurts and the offense were held to a mediocre -1 passing yards and seven points, which came off the tush push.

However, the light bulb finally went off in the second half as Philadelphia’s offense turned a corner. Hurts was taking shots down the field and spreading the ball around to all his playmakers, including AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, who both finally had breakout games.

However, we saw an animated Hurts having an interesting conversation with Patullo and Jamel Singleton (running backs/assistant head coach) late in the third quarter, which shows the friction between the players and their new leader on offense.

Jalen Hurts’ Sideline Reaction to Kevin Patullo Following TD Drive Speaks Volume

That exchange happened after Hurts led the Eagles on a 13-play, 87-yard scoring drive, ending in a nine-yard touchdown pass to put Philly only down five points. On that drive alone, the veteran QB threw the ball nine times.

We usually don’t see Hurts this animated on the sidelines, as he’s stoic most of the time. But as you can imagine, based on how this offense has been through the first 10 quarters, seeing them finally break out, the quarterback was going to speak his mind.

Given the playmakers that they have across the board on offense, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be scoring 25-plus points a game. Hurts is a talented quarterback and obviously has the skills to throw you back into a game like we saw on Sunday.

In fact, Hurts recorded 221 total yards of offense and had three passing touchdowns in the second half alone, per Brenden Deeg of The Score.

If the Eagles played like this in Weeks 1 and 2, maybe there wouldn’t be so much questioning around Patullo, who is a first-time offensive coordinator. That said, when you have Hurts and the pieces on offense, things have to be better and on rhythm.

We don’t know what Hurts said to Patullo during that exchange late in the third quarter, but you hope that the first-time OC took heed and made whatever adjustments or took notes from what his starting quarterback was speaking about.
