The Philadelphia Eagles continue to find ways to win as they improved to 4-0 on the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Despite the perfect record, however, Eagles fans left Week 4 with serious questions about the team, which were amplified by several injuries against the Bucs.
Jalen Carter, who suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter, was initially listed as questionable to return on Sunday. However, the standout defensive tackle made his return midway through the fourth quarter and played an important role in Jihaad Campbell's crucial interception and Moro Ojomo's sack. After the game, Carter said that he advocated to get back in the game after "aggravating his shoulder", per PHLY Sports' EJ Smith.
Jalen Carter Discusses His Week 4 Injury After Playing Through It
Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal reported that Carter said he wanted to return for the team and finish the game "for the guys", and that he has "battled through pain all [his] life." This is the mindset Eagles fans love to see from their team, and it delivered them a huge road win on Sunday.
Carter continues to dominate headlines for the Eagles in his third season with the team. After stealing the spotlight in Philly's Super Bowl victory back in February, the 24-year-old Pro Bowler has been a huge topic of discussion throughout the first month of the campaign.
In Week 1, he was ejected six seconds into the game after spitting on Dak Prescott. After Week 3, he was fined for taunting after the Eagles' thrilling win on Jordan Davis' blocked FG. Now he has once again become the center of attention, but this time for a positive reason, putting his body on the line to help lead the team to victory.
While Carter was able to return on Sunday, it is unclear how healthy he is truly is entering Week 5. Despite playing through the injury, Carter was seen wincing on the sidelines during the game. Hopefully whatever ailment he's dealing with isn't serious enough to limit him with the Denver Broncos on tap next.
