The Philadelphia Eagles roster is stacked in multiple spots. They used free agency and the NFL draft to find upgrades in certain areas. Safety was a position that got better after the Eagles selected Andrew Mukuba out of Texas with the 64th overall pick.
He's someone who could step in and be an impact player on Day 1. That group needed some juice after shipping out C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
It won't be long until Reed Blankenship and Mukuba are the starting duo at safety. At the same time, Lewis Cine's stock has gone down going into May.
Lewis Cine's Stock Falling for Eagles
Back in January, the Eagles signed Cine to the active roster off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad.
Cine was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings but struggled since stepping foot in the league. As a rookie, he suffered a compound fracture in his left leg that cost him the entire season. Cine then dealt with hamstring injuries in 2023 and had problems staying healthy.
He eventually got released by Minnesota in August 2024 before latching on to Buffalo. Regardless, it's been an underwhelming career for Cine thus far. He has just one total tackle under his belt.
Teams can't rely on him going into a season, which is why the Eagles continued to add more bodies to that room. Outside of Blankenship and Mukuba, Sydney Brown and Tristin McCollum are ahead of Cine on the depth chart.
He faces an uphill climb to make the 53-man roster and has his work cut out for him. Rookie minicamp ran from May 2 to May 3, while OTAs get started on May 27.
The Eagles will take a deep dive look at the roster as they look to go back-to-back, but Cine's stock has taken a hit.
