The Philadelphia Eagles’ recent run of dominance began in 2022, and one of the key catalysts was the arrival of edge rusher Haason Reddick. Reddick collected 16 sacks and five forced fumbles as part of an Eagles defense that helped carry them to the Super Bowl. While Reddick was a valuable component, his time in Philadelphia was short-lived as he was traded to the New York Jets before the 2024 season.
The Eagles have since won that elusive championship, but Reddick has struggled to regain his form. After back-to-back non-descript years, Reddick looks like a player who’s on his way out of the league and is having trouble finding a new job during his latest tour in free agency.

Reddick’s time after leaving Philadelphia has been a struggle. The deal was made as Reddick wanted a new contract and was entering his 30s. Instead of paying him, the Eagles sent him to the Jets in exchange for a conditional 2026th third-round pick, and the decision proved to be a good one. When the Jets didn’t work out a new contract with Reddick, and he unsuccessfully lobbied for another trade, he didn’t make his debut until October and had just one sack over 10 games.
That performance made it easy for the Jets to move on the following offseason and Reddick tried to rediscover his form with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But his campaign with the Bucs was derailed when he suffered knee and ankle injuries that forced him to miss a month midway through the year and he left a Week 17 game against the Miami Dolphins after he was evaluated for a possible concussion.
Pro Football Focus gave Reddick a rough review, crediting him with 34 pressures and 2.5 sacks in 308 pass-rushing snaps. With back-to-back seasons featuring an overall PFF grade in the 50s, including a 57.2 mark last season, Reddick has understandably had trouble finding a new home, although there is a potential landing spot.
The Green Bay Packers could be looking for help at edge rusher, as Micah Parsons could miss the beginning of next year due to a torn ACL suffered in December. While Parsons will return, eventually, Reddick could follow another former Eagle in Javon Hargrave as players who are looking to get their prime form back under former defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
Gannon served as defensive coordinator when Reddick had his best year in 2022, and the Eagles' scheme helped him notch 11 sacks the following season. But he may not be the same player he was during that time, and could be a tough sell for a defender who turns 32 in September.
Either way, the Eagles have moved on, and even if Reddick could provide depth, they’re best suited to sit this one out and wonder if he can find a new job as the 2026 season approaches.
