The Philadelphia Eagles are well in the midst of training camp after a stellar playoff performance that culminated in a dominant Super Bowl victory. Expectations remain sky-high for the organization, and there's little reason to believe that Philly won't once again have an opportunity to hoist a Lombardi Trophy in the upcoming season.

Recent years have seen quite a few offensive playmakers take snaps for the team. This roster changes each season, though, and that's meant that some familiar faces have fallen to the wayside.

One of those players, new Dallas Cowboys wideout Parris Campbell, looks destined to be cut during training camp in the middle of a fierce competition for supplementary options to CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Campbell is on a one-year deal with the Cowboys, hoping to serve as a depth piece in a new offensive scheme under head coach Brian Schottenheimer. However, a training camp injury could damage his chances of making the team in a significant way.

Originally a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, Campbell spent part of the 2024 campaign with the Eagles but managed only six catches for 30 yards and one TD. He's played for both the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants, yet has failed to earn much faith from any of his respective organizations.

Lamb, Pickett, Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy all seem to have an advantage on the depth chart, which puts Campbell in a bad position if he actually plans to compete for a 53-man spot. With just 1,117 career receiving yards in six years, the former Buckeye is fighting for his football life.

That's without mentioning that Campbell is expected to miss some time after suffering a sprained MCL in his knee.

Campbell is only 28 years old and could still have a place in the NFL. The Cowboys aren't necessarily top heavy, but they are fairly deep with recent investments in the draft at the receiver position. For the Eagles, Campbell represented a worthwhile dart throw that just didn't work out.

There's no harm, no foul there, but general manager Howie Roseman made the right decision moving on. Campbell deserves an opportunity, but the writing is on the wall and he's a probable cut candidate within the next month.
