The Philadelphia Eagles are kicking off training camp this week and are entering the 2025 season without any glaring issues. Despite losing several key contributors in the offseason, the Eagles have one of the most complete rosters in the NFL, making them a leading favorite to lift the Lombardi Trophy again.
This is especially the case on the offensive side of the ball, as the Eagles are essentially carrying the same roster that won the Super Bowl last season. The running back room will once again be led by Saquon Barkley and will be one of the most crucial pieces for Philly's success.
Not every former member of the Eagles' RB rotation, however, is enjoying life at the moment. Longtime Eagles vet Boston Scott is ready to make his return to the NFL, but remains unsigned so far.
Boston Scott Is Healthy and Ready to Return but Remains Unsigned in FA
Scott hasn't been able to find a permanent home since leaving Philadelphia in the 2024 offseason. He first signed with the Los Angeles Rams, but was cut before the regular season. He then landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was released two weeks into his deal with an injury settlement due to a partial meniscus tear he sustained. Since then, he has had workouts with teams, but hasn't been able to sign a new contract just yet.
The 30-year-old rusher has recently voiced his desire to return to the NFL in 2025 and said that he would welcome a return to the Eagles. While that seems unlikely, the six-year vet could have an opportunity elsewhere.
Despite his touches and production falling in recent years, Scott continued to have a large role as a kick returner. As recently as 2023, Scott was an effective return man. If he still has that juice as a special teamer, he could provide unexpected value for a team if signed before the season.
