The first week of training camp went down for the majority of teams in the NFL. They are looking to continue their grind, as pads will start coming on around the league.

While the Philadelphia Eagles are at the NovaCare Complex for camp, there are several former Eagles looking to create paths with their new teams. One ex-Philadelphia QB is Kenny Pickett, and he hit a setback over the weekend.

According to WEWS' Camryn Justice, Pickett suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday afternoon and will be re-evaluated later in the week. That will change how reps are being distributed in the QB room and could potentially cost Pickett the starter job in Cleveland.

Former Eagles QB Kenny Pickett Will Miss Time Due to Injury

That injury throws a massive wrench in the plan for Pickett, as he's in the midst of a quarterback competition with the Browns. Cleveland has Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and Joe Flacco all splitting reps in training camp to see who will emerge as the starter for the 2025 season.

Hamstring injuries can be particularly tricky, depending on their severity. They can range from a week to several weeks, and if that's the case, it'll put the nail in the coffin for Pickett's chances of starting for the Browns. A player can't miss an extended period of time and come back to be the starter when they're fighting for a spot.

In March, Philadelphia and Cleveland exchanged quarterbacks, Pickett for Dorian Thompson-Robinson. The Pittsburgh product was excited about the opportunity to fight for his starting role and has been fairly impressive throughout the offseason.

The fact that he's going to miss time with certainty benefits the other guys on the roster, especially the rookies in Sanders and Gabriel.

The Browns picked those rookies in the NFL draft for a reason and wanted to see what these guys could bring to the team. They already have Flacco in the fold, and he's been able to produce for them, but he's 40 years old.

He could start a few games for this team, but it's not wise to rely on him as QB1 for the entire season. With Sanders and Gabriel slated to get more reps in Pickett's place, they could take full advantage, and that would end Pickett's chance of being the starter.

Pickett's resume isn't strong enough in the NFL. In 30 career games, he has completed 62.4% of his throws for 4,765 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and 14 picks. He's also 15-10 as a starter.

The training camp reps are crucial, and Pickett's time away could end his shot at being the Browns' starter in 2025.
