The Philadelphia Eagles are among the several teams starting camp this week as they try to figure out who will make the 53-man roster. The Eagles have a few position battles worth keeping an eye on, as rookies and vets alike will be fighting for a Week 1 spot.
While that is taking place, several ex-Eagles are still searching for their next gig, hoping to be on a roster by September. In fact, a former Eagles safety has surprisingly joined a new team within the NFC East for training camp. If this player makes the team out of camp, he could see his former team twice.

The 27-year-old Wallace reportedly had a tryout with the Giants last month at their minicamp. Before latching on with New York, the former Eagles defender spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks. Wallace spent most of his time on special teams with the Seahawks (53% of snaps), as he had 15 combined tackles and a forced fumble in nine games.
Philadelphia fans were enamored with Wallace when the Eagles took him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Many thought Wallace would be the starting safety of the future based on what he showed on film at Clemson. However, those dreams never quite came to fruition.
Wallace spent three seasons in Philadelphia, where he played in 45 games (seven starts). The veteran safety had 64 combined tackles, two pass deflections, and a fumble recovery. The Eagles parted ways with the former fourth-round selection in August 2023, and he then split time between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans during that season.
With his stock at an all-time low, the ex-Eagle finds himself in an interesting position with the Giants, who have two starting safeties in Tyler Nubin and Jevon Holland. If Wallace can emerge as a camp standout, he could have his pick of teams by the end of the preseason, setting him up to get his career back on track.
At the very least, this is a great opportunity for Wallace on a downtrodden NFC franchise. He should have ample chances to make plays against a less-than-impressive Giants offense in practice, which would boost his stock after primarily playing special teams in 2024.
However, if he can't do that, the fifth-year pro's NFL tenure may be forced into a premature end.
