The Philadelphia Eagles saw some major turnover on their coaching staff this offseason. Most notably, Philadelphia promoted Kevin Patullo to offensive coordinator and hired Parks Frazier to be their new passing game coordinator. That said, a member of the Eagles Super Bowl-winning coaching staff from 2017 has recently found a new job.
According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Stanford Cardinal are hiring former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich as their interim head coach for 2025. This opportunity will be Reich's first national coaching chance since he was fired as the Carolina Panthers head coach in 2023.
Sources: Stanford is hiring veteran NFL coach Frank Reich as the school’s interim football coach for 2025 season. Both sides have agreed this will be only a one-season agreement. At that point, Stanford will launch a national search. pic.twitter.com/21NuVUCjjt

Stanford Hires Frank Reich as Interim Head Coach in 2025
The 63-year-old has 17 years of NFL coaching experience as well as a 13-year playing career. As the offensive coordinator for the Eagles, Reich had one good year and one terrible year. In 2016,
Philadelphia had one of the worst offenses, ranking 24th in passing offense with 3,798 yards and 11th in rushing offense with 1,813 yards.
In 2017, the Eagles offense was considerably better, finishing 14th in passing with 3,967 yards and 3rd in rushing with 2,115 yards. This offensive output helped Reich lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. As a result, he earned a head coaching opportunity with the Indianapolis Colts.
Reich spent five and a half seasons with the Colts and ended with a winning record of 40-33-1. Before being fired after Week 9 in 2022 (3-5-1), Reich only had one losing season with Indianapolis in 2019(7-9).
After being fired from the Colts, Reich became the head coach of the Carolina Panthers in 2023. The 63-year-old was fired after leading the Panthers to a 1-10 record through the first 12 weeks. Although Reich's Panthers were a disaster it wasn't completely his fault given how devoid of talent they were.
Despite finishing his NFL head coaching career with a losing record of 41-43-1, Reich still Brings valuable experience to Stanford. Hiring him might end up being a smart short-term move. Regardless of how things turn out though, Eagles fans will always be behind Reich after he helped bring the franchise their first Super Bowl.
