The 2025 season has been one to remember for ex-Philadelphia Eagles safety K’Von Wallace. Wallace, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Eagles and spent three-plus years in Philly, has bounced around the league over the last few months.
The 28-year-old defensive back began his quest with the New York Giants, who signed him at the beginning of training camp after a tryout. However, the Giants let him go towards the end of the preseason in August.
That said, it didn’t take long for the ex-Eagle to find his next opportunity, joining the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad. Wallace never appeared in a game with the Vikings, who released him at the end of October.
Despite things not working out with the Vikings and Giants, Wallace did not give up, as he got one more chance to prove himself with the Houston Texans. He was signed to their practice squad on Nov. 13 and has appeared in two games, including the Texans’ Week 17 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The ex-Eagle shone on Saturday afternoon as he had five combined tackles and a tackle for loss across 48 snaps. Wallace also logged four run stops, allowed three yards on two targets, and had an 85.8 run defense grade, per Pro Football Focus (h/t @TexansJacobs on Twitter).
Based on his performance in Week 17, Wallace might’ve given himself a chance to either stay in Houston in 2026 or play elsewhere next season.
Ex-Eagle K'Von Wallace May Be Turning Things Around at the Final Hour
As previously mentioned, things were not looking good for Wallace before he got to Houston, as he failed to make the Giants' initial 53-man roster and never got the chance to play with the Vikings.
In fact, since he was let go by the Eagles during the 2023 season, Wallace has struggled to find his footing and a role, spending time with the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks.
However, Wallace is making sure to leave no stone unturned in Houston, which is the right mindset to have with him being uncertain about where he might play next year. In his first game with the Texans in Week 15 against the Arizona Cardinals, Wallace logged 13 special teams snaps.
And then the former Eagle turned around a couple of weeks later and played a large amount of snaps on defense, which is good for him. At this stage of his career, Wallace has to show that he can be versatile, meaning he can play special, defense, or both in a specific game at a drop of the dime.
With there being one game left in the regular season, plus the playoffs, it will be interesting to see what the Texans do with Wallace next. If the veteran safety can do what he did in Week 17, it could garner him some favor across the league as a reliable depth option in 2026.
It's never too late to reinvent yourself, and Wallace is proving that he's not taking this last chance opportunity for granted.
