With the 2025 NFL preseason in the books, the Philadelphia Eagles and the other 31 teams in the NFL are spending the next day working towards finalizing their 53-man roster for Week 1 of the regular season.
The Eagles will make some tough cuts over the next 12-24 hours, but the hope is that some of these players will clear waivers and be back on the practice squad. We’ve already seen Philly make a few trades on Sunday, so it's clear that they aren’t settled on their 53-man roster.
At the same time, several former Eagles are hoping that they don’t get the call to turn in their playbook with their respective new team.
Last week, we saw ex-Eagles wide receiver Zach Pascal get released by the New York Giants. And it looks like another former Eagle will be joining him in free agency.

Ex-Eagles Defender K’Von Wallace Gets Sent Packing by New York Giants
On Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC-2 reported that the New York Giants released former Eagles safety K’Von Wallace.
Dan Duggan of The Athletic, who covers the Giants, added on Twitter that he thought Wallace would push for a backup role due to his experience and ties to New York’s defensive coordinator (Shane Bowen), but as we see, that didn’t happen.
The Giants announced they released S K'Von Wallace and put CB TJ Moore on IR. Thought Wallace would make a push for a backup job due to his experience and history with Shane Bowen, but he never did. Raheem Layne was the fourth safety all offseason. Layne's competition for a spot…

When you look at the Giants’ depth chart, Wallace wasn’t starting over Jevon Holland and Tyler Nubin, who are uber-talented on the backend. However, Wallace could’ve joined Dane Belton as the backup safeties. But he couldn’t beat out Raheem Layne, who appeared in two games last season.
Wallace joined New York at the start of training in July, after participating in a tryout during the team’s mandatory minicamp in June. The ex-Eagles defensive back had six combined tackles in two preseason games.
Now, the 28-year-old defensive back will wait to see if another team will add him to their 53-man roster or practice squad. Wallace has become a journeyman player after the Eagles cut ties in August 2023.
The former fourth-round pick appeared in 45 games over his three-year run in Philadelphia, and has recently played in a total of 26 games over the last two seasons with three different teams (Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks).
At this point in his career, Wallace isn’t a starting-caliber safety but can provide solid depth and play special teams, which he did a lot of last season with the Seahawks. It will be interesting to see where Wallace and other former Eagles land in the coming days and weeks.
